Veggie Lentil Steak
Hearty and satisfying.
I might have already mentioned my fascination with vegetarian and vegan cooking to you before. If I haven't, well.. now you know! ;)
The creativity involved in the process of producing delicious and appetizing meals using animal product substitutes is simply amazing.
I'm not a vegetarian (or vegan) myself, but I do enjoy eating vegetarian meals every once in a while. I find it mind opening really, how tasty this universe of meat substitution can be.
So today I bring to you my Veggie Lentil Steak. It's delicious, hearty and incredibly satisfying. You won't be missing meat the day you try them. :)

Veggie Lentil Steak
I served these tasty Veggie Steaks with a simple tomato salad and oven fried potatoes. It was simply delicious!

Veggie Lentil Steak
Preparation time: 30 min
Yield: 4 Veggie Steaks
Level: Easy

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of Cooked lentils
  • 1/2 cup of Cooked quinoa
  • 1/2 cup of Bread crumbs
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup of Chopped onion
  • 1 clove of Garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp of Dijon Mustard
  • 2 tsp of Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp of Ketchup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • + Bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
Using a hand blender or food processor, roughly puree the lentils, you want to see a few whole lentil in there. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix everything very well together. Form the steaks simply by grabbing 1/4 of the batter and flatting it out with your hands. Dust it with bread crumbs. In a large skillet, add the 2 tbsp of vegetable oil and cook the veggie steaks in medium high heat, about 4 minutes each side.

Tips:
- The soy sauce is already salty, so you might not feel the need to add more salt
- Be gentle while handling the veggie steak, it's soft and can easily break
