The caramelized onion gives the patties a decadent sweetness that will have you asking for seconds.
The recipe for the burgers was my creation, but my Writing-Editor (a.k.a. Mr. Love, Thyme and Honey) was the Master Cook behind the barbecue.
And in case you are curious, I'll be sharing the bread recipe I used for the buns in next little while, stay tuned! ;)
Preparation time: 40 minutes (not including the baking of the buns)
Yield: 6 Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 kg Ground beef
- 4 tbsp Caramelized onion (*See Notes)
- 4 tsp Fresh thyme
- 2 tsp Fresh rosemary
- 4 tsp Fresh parsley
- 1 Clove of garlic - chopped
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a bowl mix with the caramelized onion, thyme, rosemary, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Add you meat and mix it so the seasoning is well distributed. Be careful not to over mix it, you don't want to form a paste with the mixture, you still want to see the ground meat's texture.
You'll be able to form 6 burgers of 160g each. To form them, get a portion of the meat mixture, and with your hands form a ball and then flatten it. Adjust the edges to help firm up the patties. Brush both sides with a little bit of olive oil.
In a gas grill, bring the heat over to medium high. Grill each side for about 4 minutes.
Voilá! You are ready to start stacking your sandwiches! Cut your buns in the middle, add a lettuce leaf, tomato slices, your Caramelized Onion BBQ Burgers, Gorgonzola dices and top it with the lid of your bun.
Tips:
- For instructions on how to prepare the Caramelized Onions, please see Caramelized Onion Apple Brie Pizza
- Regular ground beef is thought by many better than lean ground beef when making burgers. The extra fat in the meat helps to keep the patties moist.
Just had burger yesterday. Love how the baked fries came out, seems just like the fryer ones. Waiting for the buns recipe 'cause it looks really soft and yummy.

Hi Michal, thanks! The baked fries also tasted pretty close to the "real" fries. Crispy and delicious!
